TOKYO, November 24, Xinhua)-the former Olympus Corp. CEO Michael Woodford on Thursday said that he believed the authorities would reveal the truth about the company's involvement in covering up the massive investment losses dating back to the 1990s and that an investigation by prosecutors, the police and the Securities Commission will be carried out objectively.
"It's very clear to me that they will investigate this entire issue without bias and totally, including after the money flows in relation to all transactions," Woodford told reporters after meeting with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department on Thursday.
Woodford was ousted as President of the company on 14 October to go public about the optical equipment maker's life sciences and the acquisition of United Kingdom company Gyrus Group Plc. and inordinately high fees paid for a little-known consultant based in the Cayman Islands.
Olympus ex-head of the United Kingdom on the advice of a friend to ensure her security and Britain's serious fraud Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation was looking into the case. Both local and international media have reported that the company has been collaborating with the Disgraced well-known organized crime syndicates here.
Earlier on Thursday, on his first visit to Woodford to Japan since he was ousted, also met with the public prosecutor's Office District of Tokyo and the Secretary-General of the Securities and Exchange surveillance Commission of financial market supervisors-Japan.
